Partners

This Partnership is interdisciplinary, historical and comparative; with 10  institutional partners and 20 participants from 10 countries, the team includes academics, civil society organisations, two postdoctoral fellows and six graduate students.

The Partnership represents a unique approach to documenting violence in conflict situations in a number of different ways. First, the team itself is original for its collaboration of historians of slavery with frontline service providers and non-governmental organizations working on abduction and enslavement in war. The Partnership also brings together researchers across regions and countries in Africa that allows for important information and skills exchange. Second, the proposed collaboration between universities and Partners in Uganda, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Canada, which will facilitate graduate student exchange and co-production of knowledge, is unfortunately still too rare. Our participatory research takes seriously the challenge to co-produce knowledge between the Global South and North, rather than reproduce inequalities in the knowledge economy.
