Ododo Wa: Stories of Girls in War, a dynamic multi-media museum exhibit, launched at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Wednesday, October 23rd. Through an intensive collaboration between researchers, activists, and curators, the exhibit was developed to share Grace Acan and Evelyn Amony’s experiences of abduction and captivity by the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda. Annie Bunting and Veronique Bertrand-Bourget with the Conjugal Slavery in War partnership project (YorkU) worked closely with Isabelle Masson of the CMHR, Grace Acan, and Evelyn Amony to tell two stories of abduction, violence, and, ultimately, activism for justice and reparations in the context of Northern Uganda. The exhibit launch received excellent media coverage last week.
